How it fits into life

Be present. Stonekept will remember.

One tap from your wrist or pocket. A thought, a conversation, the moment worth keeping.

Two friends mid-conversation in a sunlit living room, one wearing a smartwatch.
Why now

Life moves faster than memory can.

Messages. Meetings. Something someone said in passing that mattered.

Stonekept keeps up, so the moments worth remembering aren't only the ones that stuck.

What it is

Finally, a private memory keeper you can trust.

On your device

Your recordings and your memory database stay on hardware you own. Nothing leaves unless you ask it to.

Extracted by local AI

Local AI listens to your recordings and pulls out the facts, people, places, and decisions worth keeping.

Synced when you want

iPhone and Mac today. Windows, Android, and Linux on the way. Encrypted in transit, yours at rest.

Plugs into your AI

Hand Claude or your own agent the context it needs. Personal productivity using your memories as a tool.

How it is different

Other tools save what you read. Stonekept keeps what you lived.

Notion, Obsidian, Apple Notes, OneNote. They're for things you've read and want to keep. Stonekept is for things you lived. Your conversations. Your decisions. The afternoon you don't want to lose. From your own life, on your devices.

Second brain

Things you have read.

Articles, highlights, web clippings, PDFs. A library of someone else's words you might come back to.

  • Notion, Obsidian, Apple Notes, OneNote
  • Articles, highlights, PDFs
  • Reference, study, research
First brain

Things you have lived.

Conversations, decisions, ideas in passing, the small moments that made today yours. Captured in your voice, kept on your devices.

  • Family dinners, walks, calls
  • Meetings, decisions, half-thoughts
  • Your life, in your own words
The whole point

You are not a product.

A record of your life is not a chat log or a notebook. You have to trust where it lives as much as you trust what it does. Most apps build a business by knowing everything about you. We built one by knowing nothing. The only thing we're trying to earn, is your trust. Sync between your devices stays encrypted, so we carry envelopes, not letters. AI only ever sees what you choose to hand it.

01

Session-based by design

You control the recordings. No wake word, no background listening. The mic stays off until you tap record.

02

Extraction stays on your device

The AI that turns recordings into memories runs locally, on the hardware you already own. Not in the cloud. Not behind an API.

03

Sync that we cannot read

When memories cross between your devices, they travel encrypted. Only your hardware holds the keys. Our servers see noise.

04

Bring AI to your memories

When you want to use Claude, queries flow through a secure tunnel from your device straight to Claude. Or stay fully local and chat with the AI built into the app. Either way, your memories never become training data.

Capture the moment. Without putting a phone on the table.

Start from your Apple Watch with a glance. Stop when you're done.

What you get back isn't a 47-minute audio file. It's the names, decisions, and ideas worth coming back to.

A full memory

A full memory, built for consent.

Stonekept is a memory system, not a note app. We chose to build a different kind of app: one that keeps you in control and never treats you or your data as the product.

Session capture, on your terms

Recording starts and ends on your tap, from the Apple Watch, the Mac menu bar, or the iPhone. You decide when Stonekept is listening, every time.

Extraction stays on device

Every memory pulled from a recording is processed on your device by a model we trained for this. The words and the memories that come out of them never get uploaded.

Memories woven into the transcript

Each kept memory is anchored to the exact moment it was said. Open the transcript view to see what was happening around the line you chose to keep.

People and places, your call

Stonekept surfaces the people, places, and topics each conversation touches. Confirm, rename, or remove any of them. Extraction is assistive. You stay authoritative.

Review at the speed you want

Swipe through the day one memory at a time, or sweep entire categories from your Mac in bulk. Pin, archive, or delete without one-by-one clicks when you want to move fast.

Connector for Claude

Expose a scoped, read-only slice of your memory to Claude through the Stonekept Connector. Or stay fully local and chat with the AI built into the app. Pick the categories, tags, and time window. Revoke anytime.

Your day, your call.

Skip the note-taking and stay in the conversation. Each evening, Stonekept hands you the day so you can choose what stays and what goes.

Talk to your past

Ask your memories anything.

The Mac app lets you chat with everything you've captured. A local model answers, citing the exact memories it pulled from. No cloud round-trip.

  • Ask in plain language, get answers grounded in your own memories
  • Cited sources: see exactly which memories the answer came from
  • Runs on your Mac. Nothing leaves the device.

PRO

Bring your memory to Claude. On your terms.

Pick which memories Claude can read. Stonekept hands them over only when you ask, only the ones you chose, and only for that conversation. Anything else stays in your library, where Claude can't reach.

FAQ

Things people ask first.

No. Stonekept is strictly session-based. A session starts only when you begin it, from your Apple Watch or the Mac menu bar. You end it when you tap again. While a session is running, your iPhone shows a Live Activity on the lock screen and Dynamic Island so you always know recording is on. Between sessions, the microphone is not accessed. There is no background listening mode and there never will be.
Stonekept records only during sessions you initiate, and it is your responsibility to obtain the consent of anyone else whose voice may be captured. Recording laws vary by jurisdiction. In two-party-consent regions (California, Washington, Florida, Pennsylvania, and most of the EU, among others), you must have permission from every person being recorded. Stonekept shows a visible recording indicator on the device for exactly this reason, and sessions always end on a clear timer. Use it the way you would use any voice recorder: openly, with consent.
On your device. Extraction runs 100% on-device through a custom model we trained for memory work. Transcripts and memories live in a local SQLite store on your Mac or iPhone, protected by the OS-level encryption your device already uses. If you choose to sync between your devices, data travels end-to-end encrypted with keys that never leave your hardware. Our servers only ever see ciphertext. Nothing is used for training, advertising, or analytics.
iPhone 12 Pro or newer with at least 6 GB of RAM (the on-device model needs the headroom), an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 Sonoma or later, and Apple Watch Series 6 or newer for wrist capture. Older hardware will not run the extraction model reliably, so we do not support it.
By default, no. Chat in the app runs on a local model on your device, and nothing leaves it. On Stonekept Pro you can also connect Claude — either Claude Desktop on your Mac (no internet round-trip) or claude.ai via the Stonekept broker (encrypted both ways, scoped to what you choose). The connection is something you toggle on or off. Nothing happens automatically.
Stonekept suggests connections between memories, people, and projects based on what it finds in your transcripts. Each suggestion is exactly that: a suggestion. You confirm, rename, or dismiss it. Extraction is assistive. You are the one who decides what is true about your life.
Yes. You can export your data and wipe it from your devices at any time. Delete is a real delete, not a soft delete or a support ticket — it removes the underlying memories, transcripts, and embeddings from the device, and from any synced devices the next time they connect.
The pitch only works if everyone can use the app. Capture, extraction, and chatting with your memories all run on your device, so they cost us nothing to support beyond software updates. Sync and external AI access cost real server money, so those are the paid tiers.
Both are in-app purchases on iPhone and Mac, billed through Apple. Stonekept itself is free to download from the App Store. After installing, you can upgrade inside the app and Apple handles currency localization automatically. A web checkout for non-Apple platforms is on the roadmap.
Yes. Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID, the same way every other App Store subscription works. Canceling keeps the app working at the Free tier.
